America's Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program. OLPH students in grades 4-6 are encouraged to read good books and have fun while competing with peers from all over Kern County.
OLPH students participate by reading from the book list provided by America’s Battle of the Books. Student’s are encouraged to read all 30 books by our competition date in May. We meet monthly/weekly as a team and practice answering questions about the books on the book list.
OLPH has purchased all 30 books and students may check the books out through the coordinator, Mrs. Beard.
Students who participate in Battle of the Books gain knowledge and enjoyment from reading good books, sharing them with friends, and participating in a fun reading program!
