Mrs. Marissa Diego

I attended California State University of Bakersfield and completed with a BA in Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology. I also attended Fresno Pacific University earning a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I have experienced many positions at OLPH throughout the years.  I worked as a preschool aide, K-5th grade computer teacher, coached Track and Field, was a team teacher in Transitional Kindergarten, and now settled down in 3rd grade.

I felt a calling to teach when I entered college. Many of my family members are in education and have spread that love for teaching to me. At OLPH, I enjoy finding new ways to make learning fun by having students work together as a team and integrating technology as much as possible, so that the students will strive academically. I believe that finding the needs of each student is crucial to further their learning. My goal as an educator is to help students achieve socially, academically, and to find a love for their faith.

Working at a Catholic school has been a great experience. I can see that integrating a love for Christ and his teachings do reflect positively on the attitudes of the students and staff. At a Catholic school, you can see how people care for each other and work as a community to accomplish great things.

In our third grade classroom, students enjoy learning about multiplication, division, and fractions in Math. We also are reading to learn. Third graders are consistently reading and understanding how to break down more complex text to build their vocabulary, reading, spelling, and writing skills during our Language Arts time. During Religion time, students find a love for their faith, how to give to others in need, and how to be Christ-like in their thoughts and actions. We learn cursive, study our Solar System, and learn about our different communities and cultures in California. Third Graders are excited to participate in P.E., Music, and Computer Classes throughout the school year. Along with academics, students work on social skills to build life skills and long lasting friendships.

I am excited to meet you! Please feel free to contact me at any time.
